BUTTER is a French-inspired New Zealand patisserie that brings contemporary flair to traditional pastry. Rooted in Ōtautahi since 2017, BUTTER reflects my journey from passionate food enthusiast to dedicated pastry chef. The menu focuses on classic pastries crafted with local ingredients from Aotearoa whenever possible. With offerings such as tarts and petit fours available year-round and custom celebration pieces upon request, our menu also expands with seasonal specialties and event-specific creations.
My path to establishing BUTTER began with pursuing a diploma in Patisserie, which opened doors to invaluable experiences and connections in the industry. Highlights include winning gold at the 2019 Nestlé Toque d’Or and learning from various local businesses and friends who continue to inspire and support me.
When the global pandemic halted my plans to gain overseas experience—a typical career move for young New Zealand chefs—I founded BUTTER to keep challenging myself, showcase my creativity, and deepen my understanding of pastry.
