Golden Bear Brewing Company is a craft brewery and bar at the historic Mapua Wharf in Nelson. Founded by Jim and Anne Matranga, it opened on Labour weekend in October 2008. Visitors can enjoy craft brewed beers, dishes inspired by flavours from California, Mexico and the Southwest of the USA, live music and views over the water. The bar has 40 taps for beer, wine and other beverages. Golden Bear closes annually from July to mid-September.
