JKA Timaru is a proud member of the Japan Karate Association (JKA) New Zealand - the world's most respected and traditional Shotokan Karate organisation. Our club provides a friendly, disciplined, and family-oriented environment where students of all ages can develop strength, focus, and confidence through the art of karate. Under the instruction of qualified black belt Sensei, classes focus on the core elements of traditional JKA Karate: Kihon (fundamentals), Kata (forms), and Kumite (sparring) . Students are guided step by step to improve their physical fitness, coordination, and mental resilience, while also learning respect, perseverance, and self-control. We offer structured classes for kids, teens, and adults , welcoming complete beginners as well as experienced martial artists.
