I was born in Hall in Tirol, Austria. There I completed tertiary education at Fachschule fuer Holzwirtschaft und Saegetechnik (the College of Woodworking and Sawmilling). Training included joinery, timber merchandising, saw milling, technical drawing and business papers. After graduation I worked as a timber merchant and a cabinet maker for four years before travelling to the United States
