Pohatu Penguins

Pohatu Penguins runs nature, sea kayak and penguin tours at Pōhatu on Banks Peninsula near Akaroa. It is home to mainland New Zealand's largest colony of White-flippered Penguins, Canterbury's variant of the Little Penguin. Guided by the Helps family, local conservationists with over 30 years of experience, the business offers penguin tours, sea kayaking, 4WD scenic tours and farmstay accommodation. Francis and Shireen Helps have worked to protect these penguins from introduced predators for three decades.
