Located in Ōhinehou, Rei Gallery is a Māori owned and operated gallery under local mana whenua Kāi Tahu in Whakaraupō Bay. We foster unity and mutual aid through art, centring Te Ao Māori and creating new possibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Artists: Our collective includes carvers, sculptors, painters, and weavers committed to supporting emerging, mid-career, and established artists in Ōtautahi. We aim to create pathways for rangatahi (youth) with an affinity for toi Māori and increase its visibility in Te Waipounamu.
Whakaraupō Carving Centre: As an extension of Whakaraupō Carving Centre, Rei Gallery includes artists from all backgrounds who engage with Te Ao Māori, promoting Māori art and culture.
