Southern Response

Southern Response is the government-owned company set up to settle claims by AMI policyholders for Canterbury earthquake damage that occurred before 5 April 2012. Established following AMI's receipt of capital support from the New Zealand government in April 2011, Southern Response had settled over 48,000 earthquake claims by the end of 2019. Since 2020, remaining claims have been handled by the Natural Hazards Commission acting as Southern Response's agent. The company is based in Riccarton, Christchurch.
