Blue Penguin Colony

The Ōamaru Blue Penguin Colony offers a penguin conservation experience in Oamaru, Otago. After sunset visitors can watch little penguins/kororā return home from a day fishing at sea. During the day people can learn about the penguins in the Discovery Centre, see the specially designed nesting boxes and explore the breeding colony. Since 1993 the team has carried out research to monitor Oamaru's little penguin populations and support wider conservation efforts.
