Opunake Surf Life Saving Club

Opunake Surf Life Saving Club operates lifeguard patrols at Ōpunake Beach from late November to mid-March. Volunteer lifeguards are on duty Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11:30am to 4:30pm, with extended weekday coverage from 11:30am to 6:00pm during the summer holidays. The club runs a Junior Surf programme on Sunday mornings for children aged 7 and over, focusing on water confidence, surf skills and teamwork.
