Confirm the surveyor is a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor for any boundary or subdivision work, since unlicensed boundary marks have no legal standing. Ask for a fee estimate, an indication of timing and whether LINZ lodgement and council fees are included, because subdivisions can stretch over months. Bring your record of title and any existing plans to the first meeting, as these speed up the early checks.
